The Tourism Sector becomes a Superior Investment in 2018

( - Head of Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Thomas Lembong, said that there are two sectors whose most investments are likely to grow rapidly this year, namely tourism and e-commerce.
Tourism is considered to have an advantage because the majority are in the service sector. Tourism is the most sustainable and touching commodity to the lowest level of society. Every year Indonesia's tourism performance continues to climb. The graph is very contrast when compared to other commodities, such as oil, gas, coal, and palm oil continues to decline.


Through the branding of Wonderful Indonesia, Indonesia's tourism competitiveness ranking in the world itself continues to rise. After jumping sharply from the 70th rank in 2013 to rank 50th in 2015, Indonesia's competitiveness index once again shot up 8th place to rank 42th in 2017 (World Economic Forum).

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said Indonesia had a target of reaching the world's 30th rank. Tourism will be the largest foreign exchange earner of the country as well as the best tourism destination in the regional and global level.
Indonesia's tourism sector is projected to contribute gross domestic product of 15 percent, Rp 280 trillion for foreign exchange, 20 million foreign tourists visit, 275 million domestic tourists travel and absorb 13 million workers in 2019.
The tourism sector is believed to be able to create more centers of economic growth throughout the country.
